The Setubal Peninsula will tempt you with oysters, fresh fish, octopus, sheep cheeses, and sweets filled with history and flavor.
What to Expect
Portuguese wine tasting
On the way from Lisbon, you will cross the Tagus River on the famous 25th of April Bridge, enjoy a wonderful view of Lisbon at the Christ statue, and then head to the Arrabida National Park. Along the way, we will stop at a winery of one of the oldest producers of muscatel and dry wines in Portugal. Here, you will delve into the history of local winemaking and taste several varieties of Portuguese wine.
The Setubal Peninsula in all its beauty and flavor
Setubal is a city of contrasts. On one hand, it is a typical fishing town, lost among the azure waters and green hills, with a harbor filled with boats rocking on the waves and the cries of seagulls. On the other hand, it is a gastronomic paradise where everyone comes to enjoy the gifts of the generous ocean. You will take a stroll through the ancient streets where every stone holds the secrets of time. You will indulge in the freshness of the Atlantic, tasting oysters from Setubal's farms. You will treat yourself to a lunch at the fishing docks, where they serve a seafood rodizio (10-15 types of fish) and delicious octopus. And you will try regional sweets and liquors in a cozy cafe.
Secrets of azulejo tiles - from A to Z
The next stop will be a small azulejo tile workshop - the tiles created here can be seen at exhibitions around the world. The workshop owner will introduce you to the intricacies of creating azulejo, tell you about its history, properties, production technology, and the peculiarities of tile painting. And you will understand why the Portuguese chose azulejo for decorating facades.
Arrabida Coast
Soon you will witness one of the 'Seven Natural Wonders of Portugal' - the emerald slopes of the Arrabida mountains. We will drive through the national park, inspired by the marvelous landscapes and breathing in the aromas of Mediterranean plants. And from one of the viewpoints, you will admire the quiet coves, the ocean, and the Troia Peninsula.
