About this experience
This journey for the strong in body and spirit will take you to the summit of Mount Moses - a sacred place for Christians. You will make a night ascent and witness a breathtaking sunrise at an altitude of 2300 meters above sea level. And then visit one of the oldest Christian monastic communities, the St. Catherine's Monastery.
What to Expect
Night ascent of Mount Moses. By bus, we will arrive at the starting point of the route, where a leisurely ascent will begin. You will hike 7 km up the slope of Mount Moses and reach an altitude of 2300 meters above sea level. The group is accompanied by a local Bedouin who can navigate the local trails with eyes closed.
Sunrise at the summit. You will climb 700 steps to the peak where, according to legend, pilgrims are forgiven of all their sins. But the ultimate reward is the breathtaking sunrise you will witness at Mount Moses!
St. Catherine's Monastery. After a leisurely descent and a bus ride, you will visit one of the oldest continuously operating monastic communities in the world. Within its walls, you will explore the Basilica of the Transfiguration (temporarily closed to visitors), admire the bell tower and monastery garden, visit the Burning Bush and Moses' Well.
Then, return to Sharm el-Sheikh by bus.
Organizational Details
How the Tour Works
- The bus will pick you up from your hotel and drop you off after the tour
- Departure from the hotel at 19:30. Return the next day around 14:00.
- You will be accompanied by 2 guides: a Bedouin on Mount Moses (during ascent and descent) and a guide from our team - on the bus and at the monastery
- You can participate in this tour with a Sinai Only stamp
Night Ascent Details
- Be prepared for an intensive climb up the mountain: assess your physical abilities and plan your strength
- The ascent of Mount Moses takes place at night and lasts about 3 hours
- There will be rest stops along the way to the summit, tents with tea/coffee and sweets (available for an additional fee). At any time, you can choose to ride a camel (for an additional fee).
