Dreamy Tbilisi: Off the Beaten Path Exploration Tour
About this experience
Embark on a unique route to explore Tbilisi, including places rarely seen on a regular tour. Venture into the non-touristic depths of the Sololaki district, admire the ancient houses, and learn about the aristocratic life of its former inhabitants. Stroll along the Narikala Fortress for a panoramic view of the city. In the sulfur bath district, hear facts and legends about the founding of beautiful Tbilisi.
What to Expect
Aristocratic Lifestyle of 19th-20th Centuries
We will start the tour from Freedom Square and then delve into the narrow labyrinth of streets in the Sololaki district. Here, you will see well-preserved ancient houses, worn by time but not devoid of charm and grandeur. With a little imagination, you will witness more than just a weathered staircase—a grand entrance where ladies in beautiful dresses ascend, and a carriage departs from the pavement. I will help you see and feel the history frozen in cold marble and carved reliefs. I will tell you about the merchants, landlords, bankers who once lived here, as well as the streets wandered by famous figures such as Mikhail Lermontov, Osip Mandelstam, Sergei Yesenin, Nikolay Gumilev, Maxim Gorky, and many other creative personalities who visited Tbilisi for inspiration.
Natural Beauty of Tbilisi
We will walk along the path leading up the hill slope beside Narikala Fortress, home to one of the oldest neighborhoods—Vifliemskiy. From here, you will enjoy a magnificent view of the city!
Ancient History of the City
We will turn back the pages of history to the city's foundation several centuries ago. You will learn why Tbilisi became Tiflis and the true name of Georgia. The Old Town feels like time has stood still—homes with elaborate balconies, cobblestone streets, and emotionally expressive locals. To conclude the walk, we will descend to the Abanotubani district, home to the legendary sulfur baths.
