About this experience
The legacy of the great Catalan master, of course, is difficult to fit in 3 hours - his unconventional works are so imaginative and offer a lot of room for interpretation. I will tell you the main things about Gaudi's iconic projects - the Batllo and Mila houses, the Sagrada Familia, and Park Guell. We will discuss innovative ideas, symbolism, and the biography of the vibrant architect.
What to Expect
Batllo, Mila Houses, and Chocolate Break
The adventure will begin from the Columbus monument. As you walk up Las Ramblas boulevard, you will discover a palace hidden in the 'Chinese' quarter and learn about the lanterns that caused a lifelong quarrel between the Barcelona architect and the city administration. Then, either on foot or by metro, you will go to the trendiest avenue in the city, to the Batllo and Mila houses. I will narrate the history of the origins of these bold projects and then suggest a chocolate break in the neighboring house belonging to the local Willy Wonka.
Sagrada Familia, breathtaking masterpiece
After a cup of hot chocolate and a couple of metro stops, you will find yourself next to Gaudi's unparalleled masterpiece - the Sagrada Familia. I will share the most interesting stories about its construction, full of history, and unveil some of the secrets and symbols of its multifaceted facades that have given food for thought to generations of researchers and simply amazed people.
Park Guell - the most beautiful park in Catalonia
To wrap up, we will stroll through the free part of Park Guell, where you will learn about the history of this Barcelona landmark from the inception of the idea to its brilliant realization. You will see the famous serpent bench and toothless Salamander, explore where Gaudi and Guell lived, and discover the incredible technical wonders hidden under the gingerbread design of this undeniably beautiful Catalan park. And all this time we will talk about the creator of these unique structures, trying to understand who Antoni Gaudi really was: reclusive or shy, happy or unhappy, atheist or deeply religious, a genius or mad...
