About this experience
During the walk, you will hear captivating stories from Antoni Gaudi's biography and trace his creative path. You will learn how the capital met the future genius; explore his debut in the Gracia district - the Vicens house; discuss the unhappy love of the architect on the famous serpent bench, and next to the Ballo and Mila houses - about how two daring projects took shape. Additionally, you will take a virtual journey to Barcelona at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and have lunch at a wonderful restaurant, where I will introduce you to Catalan cuisine. And in conclusion, you will visit the majestic 'sand castle' - the Sagrada Familia, where I will tell you interesting details of the construction, anecdotes about its author, and take photos of you from the best proven angles.
What to expect
A story about a fashionable architect from a prestigious avenue
In the beginning of the walk, I will tell you about the childhood and youth of the famous architect. You will learn who his parents were and why little Antonio was often seen riding a donkey. We will discuss how Barcelona met the future genius, where he lived, and which capital temple he admired. I will tell you why professors at the School of Architects dreamed of Gaudi receiving his diploma sooner, and where the expression 'genius or madman' came from. Then you will walk along the most fashionable avenue of the city and, observing the famous Ballo and Mila houses (La Pedrera), hear the story of the appearance of these incredible buildings, see the scary dragon lying on the roof of the Ballo house, and mythical warriors on the roof of the Mila house.
Enchanted Park Guell
After getting acquainted with the 'pearls' of Paseo de Gracia, you will take the metro to the Gracia district, where you will discover the architectural debut of Antoni Gaudi - the Vicens house. You will learn how, with the efforts of the young architect, the tile producer's house turned into a fantastic Eastern palace, and where a part of its fence disappeared. After taking bright pictures, you will head to Park Guell, where you will see the famous gingerbread houses and count the Doric columns, and on the famous serpent bench, you will hear about the architect's unhappy love. You will see Gaudi's house, Guell and the building where the descendants of the first and only buyers of elite housing in the residential complex, which has become the most beautiful park in Barcelona, still live.
Virtual journey and lunch in a Catalan restaurant
After strolling in Park Guell, you will visit the wonderful 4D cinema, where you will see everything we talked about. A virtual journey through Barcelona at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and a personal acquaintance with Antoni Gaudi will be an excellent conclusion to the first part of our tour. And then I will take you to an authentic Catalan restaurant or a lovely seafood restaurant by the sea (your choice) where I will tell you about the peculiarities of Catalan cuisine.
Sagrada Familia - the fantastic 'sandcastle'
Approaching the giant architectural masterpiece of Barcelona, I will photograph you from the best proven angles and tell you all the interesting details of the construction of the redemptive temple and anecdotes about its creator. You will learn which of the architect's acquaintances appeared on the facade as biblical characters, what efforts had to be made to capture the entire 'zoo' there, and how the color of Gaudi's hair helped him become the author of an unsurpassed construction in the heart of Barcelona. Then you can go inside and appreciate the interior decoration of this incredible building, and if desired, you can use an audio guide - the content of the story will not overlap with mine and will be an excellent addition to what you will hear before entering the temple.
