What to expect
Old town and Gaudi's heritage
Your date with beautiful Barcelona will start in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, at the Cathedral, where I will tell you the legend of St. Eulalia. We will wander through the narrow streets and find the Kiss Wall, which provides vibrant backdrops. On La Rambla, you will admire the Guell Palace, an early project by Antoni Gaudi, on Placa Reial – his lanterns, in the Eixample district – the extraordinary façade of the Dragon House (Casa Batllo). I will talk about the peculiarities of these and other buildings of the brilliant architect, as well as interesting stories from his life.
Catalonia and Catalans
Apart from stories about Barcelona's history and Gaudi, you will learn about the life and traditions of unique Catalonia. How many flags and official languages are here? What distinguishes a 'catalan' from a 'catalonian'? I will share many curious facts about holidays, traditions, and quirks of the locals. Another experience will be the tastes of Catalonia: you will stroll through the Boqueria Market and along the sweetest street in Barcelona, learn how to buy the right ham and how much authentic Catalan coffee costs.
