About this experience
I will show you all the main works of Gaudi in Barcelona: Park Guell, Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo, and Casa Mila. These are not just buildings, but true repositories of legends - each detail in them is symbolic and masterfully reveals the creator's thought. You will not only understand Gaudi's ideas, but also immediately apply them by creating your mosaic masterpiece in the 'trencadis' technique.
What to expect
Gaudi's masterpieces - history and legends
You will see all the significant works of the great mystic in Barcelona:
- Park Guell - a suburban community built by a Catalan magnate. You will examine the huge mosaic bench resembling a 110-meter snake and learn about the 'trencadis' technique invented by the master. I will also tell you how he worked and interacted with people, how he laid colorful tiles to create a modern-style pattern. You will also enjoy an unforgettable mosaic 'trencadis' workshop, after which you will keep souvenirs made by your own hands in Barcelona.
- Casa Batllo - the most unusual building in the city. Its convex irregular forms shatter all preconceptions of construction. You will hear how Casa Batllo is related to the Catalan legend of the patron saint of Barcelona, Saint George, who defeated the dragon, and why the house's owner never understood the artist's idea.
- Casa Mila - Gaudi's last civil project, after which he focused only on the Sagrada Familia. The wavy lines of the facade and thirty-three balconies with cast-iron railings shaped like seaweed will impress you. I will reveal the innovations Gaudi first applied in this house and why the city dwellers took a long time to accept the unusual building, calling it an Easter cake, rat hole, and quarry.
- Sagrada Familia - the temple that Gaudi worked on his entire life. I will explain the symbolism of its architectural details and tell you how the history of the Sagrada Familia unfolds today.
You can replace the Trencadis workshop with visits to two more of Gaudi's works - the street lamps on Reial Square and the Guell Palace. The palace was built by the genius in the very center for his main patron. It was one of Gaudi's first works, but even then his wild imagination could be seen - colorful shiny mushroom caps stand out from the grey stone of the palace's roof.
