About this experience
Cappadocia is a place as unusual as the meaning of its name - the 'land of beautiful horses'. You will explore otherworldly panoramas, inhabited by tuff 'mushrooms', stone columns, and sharp-coned towers of volcanic origin. You will also delve into the rich history of the region in rock monasteries and caves.
What to Expect
- In the Göreme National Park, you will observe sharp-coned stone towers, many of which have become monasteries and cells
- In the Devrent Valley, you will see numerous animals carved into the stones
- Pasabag, the Monks Valley, will fascinate you with narrow, tall 'hats' of rock formations
- In the Pigeon Valley, you will find dovecotes carved into the cliffs
- Explore the halls of the Uchisar Fort, resembling a stone anthill
- In the tiny abandoned village of Cavusin, you will decipher the structure of cliff houses
- Also on the itinerary are one of Cappadocia's symbols - cave dwellings and monasteries: you will study them in the underground Sarhatli city and in the open-air museum - a complex of churches from the Byzantine period.
En route, a visit to two of the following shops is planned: a ceramics shop with a pottery demonstration; leather goods; onyx crafts factory; carpet or leather shop. Shopping time depends on the travelers.
