I will show you an authentic place where the most delicious pilaf is cooked and teach you how to bargain at an Eastern bazaar. Moreover, you will have 2 fascinating master classes: on making silk paper and handmade carpets.
What to expect
Introduction to national cuisine
You will taste the famous Samarkand pilaf where only locals eat. Then you will head to the legendary Siab bazaar, where you can try the most delicious flatbreads and layered samsa. I will tell you about the specifics of Samarkand cuisine, the origin of pilaf, and the secrets of its preparation. Optionally, I will also organize a tasting of local wines.
Secrets of local crafts
We will visit the 'city of craftsmen', where you will have a master class on making silk paper. It is produced using an ancient technology from the peeled bark of mulberry trees. You will observe this charming process and participate in it if desired. After that, I will introduce you to the local weavers. They will show you how to hand-weave the famous silk carpets.
