About this experience
As a native of Yerevan, I have a few hobbies: traveling, history, and intellectual games. I have decided to combine them into one program to make your acquaintance with Yerevan memorable. The plan is as follows: first, we go to a real Armenian market. Then - to the viewing platform, where we can see the city and, if lucky, the top of Ararat. After that, we walk through the central locations of the city. And the unusual end of the tour will be an evening in an intellectual club.
What to expect
🍇 I will take you by car and drive you to a colorful market. Many of my friends work here, and I will guide you on where to find what. You will try fresh products and, if you wish, buy something (you can leave your purchases in my car during the walk). If you have already been to the market or simply do not want to go there, we will remove this item from the route.
🏙 We go to a viewing platform above the Cascade. From there, I will show you how Soviet replanning influenced the city. And if there is no haze, you will enjoy the view of the snow-capped Mount Ararat.
🏛 We descend into the city, leave the car in a convenient place, and walk to explore the center of Yerevan. The walk will take about 3 hours, during which we will:
- visit the Presidential Palace, the Academy of Sciences, and the picturesque Lovers' Park;
- we will go through the yards to the 'wine' street Saryan, walk to the Place de France, where you will see a monument by the famous French sculptor Auguste Rodin and learn how it ended up here;
- of course, we will reach the heart of the city - the Republic Square with government buildings;
- and if there is still strength, we will descend to the City Hall and the Yerevan Fortress.
At the end, we will return to the car either by metro or on foot. During the walk, you can expect interesting conversations with me, curious facts from the past and present of Yerevan.
🧠 After such a busy tour, you could return to the hotel to rest, but I suggest spending time more interestingly. We won't walk, but we will have to "move" our brains - we are going to an intellectual club where various games like "What? Where? When?" are held. There will be not only tricky questions and knowledge checks but also jokes and lively communication with people. In case there are no games that day, you can always stay to play board games, and I will keep you company.
