You will be surprised at how different Yerevan can be, where away from the noisy streets there is a world that looks like the 17-18th century. And you will better understand the uniqueness of the Armenian capital.
What to Expect
Unique Kond District
You will set off on an atmospheric walk through the oldest district of Yerevan with its narrow streets, 200-year-old houses hidden under apricot trees and grapevines, and incredibly hospitable local residents.
We will talk about vernacular architecture, show buildings from the 17-18th centuries, visit a Persian mosque and an Armenian church. We will also visit a house with a three-hundred-year history, where we will taste a cup of aromatic coffee as guests of a local resident.
Also included in the program:
- Abovyan Street. We will stroll along the first street in the general plan of Yerevan, where the most beautiful buildings of the 19th century, built from black volcanic tuff, are located.
- Republic Square and Freedom Square. On the two main squares of the city, you will get acquainted with their impressive architecture, history, singing fountains, and learn about local museums.
- Cascade. And of course, we will visit our open-air museum, the center of modern art, where sculptures by world-renowned artists such as F. Botero, J. Plensa, P. Voituk are exhibited. Here you will also discover the best observation deck in the capital with a view of the biblical Mount Ararat.
During the walk, you will also learn how Yerevan changed in the 1930s under the leadership of the city's chief architect Alexander Tamanyan. We will talk about Armenian winemaking, national cuisine, and interesting Armenian traditions.
