What to Expect
Yerevan at Your Fingertips
You will climb to the observation platform of the architectural-monumental complex 'Cascade' and see the Armenian capital from above. I will tell you why and for what purpose 'Cascade' was built, what role it plays in the modern life of the city, and what legends it hides in its bas-reliefs. Next, you will see the monument to the architect Tamanyan and imagine how he saw Yerevan 100 years ago. I will also tell you about another great resident of the capital - the composer Komitas and his tragic fate.
A City with the Scent of Coffee and Wine
We will walk through the old streets of Yerevan, where it's always noisy and cheerful. I will share the peculiarities of our traditions and mentality, trying to confirm or refute popular stereotypes about Armenians and Armenia. Next, I will take you to the 'wine' street of Yerevan, tell you about the local winemaking, and show you where to go in the evening.
Armenian Church and Main City Square
In the silence and coolness of the ancient Zoravor church, I will introduce you to the history of Christianity in the country. You will hear about the similarities and differences between the Armenian Gregorian and Russian Orthodox churches. And also, why the local church had a significant importance even during the Soviet era. The culmination of the tour will be the central square of the city - it is here that the country's history has been unfolding for centuries, and on ordinary evenings, the residents and guests of the city relax and enjoy the singing fountains.
