About this experience
I invite you to immerse yourself in the world of great directors: from Wyler to Sorrentino! You will see both famous city landmarks and hidden picturesque corners away from the crowds. Compare the second half of the 20th century with the present day - sometimes no less charming and grotesque. Learn about the filming of legendary scenes and the creation of luxurious costumes. And most importantly - you will be able to better understand Rome and its inhabitants.
What to expect
During a 2.5-hour walk through the historic center, you will uncover:
- What the house where Gregory Peck's character lived in 'Roman Holiday' looks like today
- The connection between Federico Fellini and Adriano Celentano
- Why the protagonist of Sorrentino's film 'The Great Beauty' lives opposite the Colosseum
- Who Anita Ekberg's dress from 'La Dolce Vita' was originally created for
- What made Marcello jump into the Trevi Fountain in a famous scene
- Why Fellini's 'La Dolce Vita' is a kind of response to 'Roman Holiday'
- In which masterpiece of the Renaissance era one of the scenes of 'The Great Beauty' was filmed
- Why the street Via Veneto had to be recreated at the Cinecittà film studio
This is not quite a typical tour - more like a lecture-walk. The thing is, the action of any movie unfolds in different parts of the city. We won't be able to cover them all. To give you a complete picture of cinematic Rome, we will definitely take a break in a picturesque cafe - I will mark a few more wonderful places on the map that you can visit on your own after the tour.
