About this experience
Gingerbread, mulled wine, hot cherry beer, strong genever, and ice skating on the Lake of Love! To find the Christmas mood, we will take a walk through the decorated Gothic city. You will visit the market, where you will try the famous crispy waffles, hear the enchanting sounds of the carillon, and learn about local traditions.
What to Expect
Magic of the Old Town
We will stroll through the historical center illuminated by the lights of numerous garlands and colorful festive shop windows. You will see the Beguinage monastery and learn about life in Bruges in the 15th century. You will pass by the legendary De Halve Maan brewery, the authentic Belfry, and the Hospital of St. John, now housing an art museum. The medieval Market and Burg squares, the picturesque St. Boniface Bridge, and the Gruuthuse – I will show you the most important landmarks of the city and share interesting facts.
Traditional Feast
During the walk, we will visit the Christmas market and warm ourselves with hot cherry beer. You will meet our friendly farmers who uphold traditions and enjoy fresh homemade craft delicacies: authentic cheeses and sausages. I will tell you how the people of Bruges celebrate Christmas, what dishes they prepare for the festive table, and what they give each other. If desired, after the tour, you can go ice skating on the Lake of Love or take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage through the Old Town, watch theatrical performances, or listen to the carillon chime of the Belfry tower to fully immerse yourself in the fairy-tale atmosphere.
