About this experience
During the pre-holiday days, Berlin turns into a big gift, sparkling and charging with the atmosphere of merriment. We will walk through its streets decorated for Christmas, visit markets, and admire handmade souvenirs. We will inhale the aromas of roasted chestnuts, doughnuts, punch, and mulled wine - and talk about how Germans celebrate the most magical holiday.
What to expect
City's Christmas decorations
We will explore the main attractions of the German capital, dressed up for the holiday. We will visit the central square Gendarmenmarkt, where stalls with sweets have already been set up, and at Alexanderplatz we will see a large ice rink around the fountain. We will go around Museum Island and admire the bright lights on the modern Potsdamer Platz. And we will take a walk under the "glowing" lime trees of Unter den Linden street to the Brandenburg Gate.
Christmas the German way
We will visit Christmas markets, where everything is filled with the spirit of the holiday. While you indulge in gingerbread cookies, doughnuts, or German sausages and warm up with fragrant mulled wine, I will tell you about how Germans prepare for Christmas and celebrate New Year. You will hear about the history of Advent, the features of Berliners' holiday table, who hides gifts under the Christmas tree - and many other holiday traditions in Germany.
