About this experience
German Christmas markets during Advent are a special kind of magic! I will be your guide into the festive atmosphere of Leipzig: we will take a walk through the historic city market, warm up with spicy glühwein or Feuerzangenbowle, explore the sights, and of course, talk about the traditions and fairy tales of German Christmas.
What to Expect
Christmas markets - and more!
In the historic center of Leipzig, you will be surrounded by lights, sounds, and aromas of one of Germany's oldest and most famous markets. You will hear the history of the Christmas bazaar, which has been held here since the 15th century, and also get acquainted with the city's landmarks framed by festive lighting. We will examine the ensemble of Augustusplatz - the opera house, Gewandhaus, and the University of Leipzig. We will admire the passages of Madler and Specks-Hof, the Church of St. Nicholas and the old Town Hall, take a walk through Naschmarkt and, of course, the bustling and lively Market Square.
Christmas Leipzig: user manual
Get ready to immerse yourself in the world of German traditions and hear Christmas stories accompanied by spicy glühwein and Feuerzangenbowle! In addition, I will suggest what festive treats you should definitely try at the Leipzig market, where to buy original souvenirs from the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) and handmade Christmas baubles from Thuringia. And if you want, I can tell you about upcoming Christmas concerts, performances, and other entertainment.
