About this experience
The capital of Armenia is 2805 years old. Despite its respectable age, Yerevan looks quite modern. The pink color of tuff refreshes the look of the buildings and hides traces of a long history. During the excursion, we will explore the ancient district of Kond and visit the most significant city locations. I will help you feel the spirit of modern Yerevan and tell you about its present.
What to Expect
- Republic Square - the heart of the capital. You will learn what secret is hidden underground here.
- Blue Mosque - the only one in the city. I will tell you why it has been preserved in a Christian state.
- Kond - the oldest district of Yerevan. It is often called slums or favelas of the 15th century, but is it really so?
- Saryan Street - the best place to catch the mood of modern Yerevan. I will show you the house-museum of artist M. Saryan, a couple of cool non-historical establishments, and explain why this street is called 'wine'.
- Gafesjian Gallery ('Cascade') - one of the brightest attractions of Yerevan with an interesting sculpture garden and the best sunset in the city.
- Opera and Ballet Theater. I will tell you how it is connected with Russia and whether the ballet 'Swan Lake' is involved here.
- Abovyan Street - the oldest street in Yerevan, where you will learn about the disappearance of the great Armenian writer and the secret of the 'Dalan' gallery.
Midway through the excursion, I will treat you to authentic Armenian coffee in a picturesque family restaurant. You will learn how important this drink is in the life of Armenians.
