About this experience
After a beautiful sunset (even on a rainy day) in Batumi, all roads lead to a bar. I suggest not stopping at just one! During the tour, we will visit 3-4 of the coziest and most atmospheric establishments in Batumi, discuss the traditions of Georgian winemaking, and immerse ourselves in the culture of wine drinking.
What to Expect
Facts, legends, and even jokes about Georgian winemaking
You will be able to ask all the awkward questions about wine and understand the meaning of all those beautiful mysterious words: autochthonous, terroir, maceration, etc. And if you are already familiar with these words - then learn about the peculiarities and strengths of Georgian winemaking. How the wine cellar 'marani' is arranged, how wine goes through a long journey from flower on the vine to your glass, how wine is interwoven into different spheres of human life - from religion to medicine! We'll talk about all of this.
From words to action
On our wine list:
- A real wine cellar
- A bar with an interesting collection of wines from small Georgian wineries
- A bar where you can try wine paired with different cheeses
- And your choice - a bar with a panoramic city view, a beer bar, a bar with strong spirits or cocktails and infusions
I will give recommendations on wine selection, and while you enjoy the drinks, I will tell you about the types of tastings, why they are necessary, and how to get the maximum pleasure from them. I will also share tips on how to pair wine with food, navigate the shelves of wine shops, and articulate your wine preferences.
If you have a 'non-wine' soul and prefer other alcoholic beverages, we can dedicate part of the walk to chacha, beer, and infusions - Georgia has surprises for you here too!
Organizational Details
Tastings are paid separately: starting from 40 lari ($15) per person for the entire tour. There is no need to pay for the tasting guide.
