Tbilisi Flavor: Wine Tour with a Bonus of Sololaki Mansions
About this experience
There are two ways to make wine: European and Georgian. This fact alone says a lot. Wine here is sacred, and the history of local winemaking is one of the oldest in the world. You will try quality wine, squeezed from ancient grape varieties, and learn about the traditions of its production. The aesthetic decoration of the walk will be five mansions in the district, without which you cannot feel the flavor of Tbilisi.
What to Expect
World of Georgian Wine and Chacha
You will visit the Chacha Museum, where about 300 types of this drink are stored – you will be offered to taste 3-4 types. Afterwards, we will visit two wine cellars, one of which is the oldest in Tbilisi, operating since the 17th century! You will learn about the features of wine production. And you will try a total of up to 14 types.
Along the way, you will hear about national wine traditions and the sacred role of wine in Georgian life. You will also learn interesting facts about the history, culture, and lifestyle of ancient and modern Tbilisi.
Sololaki Mansions
You will visit the five most interesting mansions and feel the spirit of the 19th-century Tbilisi. You will listen to stories about the owners of the mansions – oil and tobacco magnates of that time. You will examine the architecture of the restored buildings, which have become an official part of the city's cultural heritage. And among other things, you will see the house where Georgian artist Niko Pirosmani lived.
And we will also give you a bonus – a walking tour of Tbilisi with one of the best guides in the city.
