About this experience
You will go on a journey to meet the real Dutch countryside. I will show you the windy Zaanse Schans, dotted with charming bright green houses. You will learn about the emergence of windmills and understand why some Dutch people still wear wooden clogs. And in Volendam, you will get acquainted with the life of fishermen and try dishes made of eel and various types of cheese.
What to Expect
Mill Park and Craft of Painted Clogs
Time seems to have stopped here, and a whole park of windmills, each with its own function, makes the landscape unique. You will learn how the village looked in the past and what the residents were engaged in, hear about events that influenced the course of history. We will visit the museum of traditional Dutch footwear - wooden clogs: here you will see how they are made, and even try on clogs and check how comfortable they are. If you wish, we can climb one of the windmills and admire the village from above - or visit the clock museum, where some of the most unique exhibits of the 17th century are preserved.
Fishermen's Village
Later we will head to Volendam - a picturesque village on the banks of Lake IJssel. In the past, famous artists often visited here, inspired by the idyllic landscapes: you will see the hotel where they stayed and find out what is housed in its building today. Together we will wander through narrow streets and relax on the promenade, admiring the yachts gently rocking on the waves. I will tell you about local customs and the peculiarities of national clothing. And then you will be able to try dishes made of eel and other fish that Volendam is famous for.
If desired, the tour can also be extended to visit the town of Edam - the birthplace of the famous cheese.
This tour has a pleasant surprise in store for you!
