About this experience
You will stroll along the waterfront where Brodsky walked, enjoy masterpieces by Titian and Tintoretto, and see the burial place of the doges. You will also learn what a scuola is and meet Venetian cats.
What to Expect
Masterpieces by Titian and the picturesque embankment of the Venetian Lagoon
You will visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, be impressed by the great works of Titian, Tintoretto, and the unusual adornment of the church in white and green marble with azure inlays, and then step out onto the beautiful Fondamente Nove embankment, where Brodsky loved to walk and enjoy the view of the islands of Murano and San Michele.
Outstanding examples of ancient architecture
We will reach the amazing square of Santi Giovanni e Paolo, which is rightfully considered the second most beautiful in Venice after Piazza San Marco. I will show you the basilica of Santi Giovanni e Paolo - the largest cathedral in the city, where 27 doges and other famous Venetian figures are buried. I will tell you who the doges were and how their lives went. Next, you will see the Scuola di San Marco of the Renaissance and learn why it is written about in art history textbooks. Along the way, I will show you traditional bars and osterie and recommend you my favorites.
