What to expect
Walking tour of the city's best locations
In the heart of Venice, our pedestrian journey will begin. You will see St. Mark's Square and its main decoration - the magnificent cathedral bearing the name of the same apostle. You will admire the Gothic Doge's Palace and see the buildings where powerful procurators lived and worked. The house of the famous courtesan Veronica Franco, the Rialto Bridge, the local "falling" tower, wells, unusual stairs: the most significant buildings of the city and its secret corners will be included in our route.
Venetian contrasts: legends and facts, finances and art
I will dedicate the story to the inhabitants of Venice and its fate. You will understand how the water city turned into a powerful republic and why the whole world despised its founders. You will learn how many centuries it took to build St. Mark's Cathedral and what ceremonies were held here. You will find out what was in the Doge's Palace and how it is connected to Casanova. I will draw parallels between the real life of the courtesan at Veronica Franco's house and the movie made about her, and in the district where Casanova was born, I will share curious facts from the seducer's biography. The life and work of medieval aristocracy will be revealed to you in the procuratorates, and the fate of the architect Jacopo Sansovino, Titian's friend, in the library he built.
In addition, we will discuss the theatrical movement of Venice, casinos, "bull hunting," carnivals, ancient traditions, and local legends. You will immerse yourself in the past of the sea capital and be inspired by its magnificence.
