About this experience
This excursion is suitable for both first-time visitors to Venice and those who have already been here and would like to expand their knowledge of the city beyond the 'must-see' landmarks. Together, we will try to uncover what Venice is with its unique 'physics, geography, and geometry'. You will see for yourself that in this city, you can get lost in reflections and start dreaming with your eyes wide open.
What to Expect
I am sure there is no single point from which one must start exploring Venice; the main thing is to do it with pleasure. Therefore, we will determine our meeting place based on your convenience. The route is approximate and can be adjusted according to your preferences. Among the main highlights:
- Piazza San Marco with its monumental architectural ensemble including St. Mark's Basilica, Doge's Palace, Procuratie, St. Mark's Library, the Clock Tower, New Prisons, and the Bridge of Sighs
- Rialto Bridge - once the center of Venice's commercial life and a significant place in its history
- Church of Saint Pantaleon, home to 'The Martyrdom and Triumph of Saint Pantaleon' by J. Fumiani - a masterpiece of Venetian Baroque painting and the second-largest canvas in the world
- Fist Bridge and other spots revealing interesting details about Venice's political and daily life during its heyday
- Academy Bridge offering wonderful views of the Grand Canal and adjacent districts, including the neighborhood where Giacomo Casanova was born and raised
- Memorable sites linked to individuals who hold a special place in Venice's history - Marco Polo, Francesco Morosini, Niccolò Tommaseo, Daniele Manin, and others
Many picturesque corners along the route will allow you to see the non-touristy Venice, feel its atmosphere, and enjoy the stories and legends associated with these places.
During the walk, you will learn:
- How and why Venice emerged and what makes it a city that defies conventional logic
- Which products from local artistic crafts have become integral parts of Venice's image
