About this experience
For most travelers, Venice seems to be only a tourist mecca, a scenery where real life seems impossible. But Venice lives! On this tour, you will feel its slow, unnoticed life. You will walk through quiet alleyways, peek into courtyards, discover secret places off the tourist path, immerse yourself in the atmosphere of an island universe, and taste Venetian 'cicchetti'. And of course, history will not be left out: the most interesting facts about the city will be intertwined with the local lifestyle.
What to Expect
Untouristy Paths
During the tour, you will not only see the landmarks of Venice's sestieri (districts) but also their residential part. I will tell you about local life - the joys and challenges of living on the island part of Venice. As a resident of the historic city center, I will guide you through secret paths, bypassing crowded tourist flows. Along the way, you will learn local legends and how the names of local streets and embankments originated.
Venice as a City for Living
I will help you see the city in complete harmony with local life. You will find out who Venetians love and hate the most, where exactly they have their aperitivo and leisurely strolls until dinner on weekends. I will reveal secret spots, show streets where musicians play, and help you understand why Venice is not in guidebooks but is truly a city of dreamers and artists.
Joys of a Hedonist
The gastronomic part of the tour will delight you with secret places frequented by Venetians themselves. You will learn about the peculiarities of the Venetian 'spritz' and snacks, hear the culinary history of the city, and taste the famous 'cicchetti' - small portioned snacks (do not confuse them with Spanish 'tapas', Venetians take great offense). At the end of the stroll, I suggest you drop by an event happening on the day of our meeting: a concert, exhibition, or performance. You can even participate in a 'closed' tasting at one of the palazzos or scuole.
