About this experience
I invite you to Pannonhalma Abbey - the second largest in the world after Montecassino Monastery. I am not a guide and offer only comfortable car assistance and a brief excursion into the history of these places. You will visit the ancient basilica of the abbey, the monastery winery, and then have lunch at a panoramic restaurant.
The Benedictine Pannonhalma Abbey was built on top of St. Martin's Hill, 282 meters high, in 996. The hill's name is associated with the legend that St. Martin of Tours was born here. The abbey is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
What to Expect
- We will visit the abbey's basilica, crypt, library, then head to the winery where you can taste the delicious wines produced by the monks.
- Next, we will have lunch at a panoramic restaurant and visit the store where you can buy souvenirs and products of the monks: wine, chocolate, lavender soap, and oil.
