About this experience
On this tour, I will introduce you not only to the historical center of Budapest, where you will feel the free-spirited nature of the Hungarians and their understanding of beauty in architecture, but also to a small town nearby. After the majestic buildings of the capital that shaped Hungary's destiny, you will take a stroll through the quaint cobblestone streets of Szentendre, visit the charming Christmas museum, and taste Hungarian cuisine at a local restaurant.
What to Expect
The Grandeur of Budapest
You will be treated to an engaging narrative by a native Hungarian on the key events of Hungarian capital's history and its main attractions, such as the magnificent St. Stephen's Basilica. You will see the famous Heroes' Square and the Hungarian Parliament building, visit the Buda Castle and the Fisherman's Bastion, drive along Andrássy Avenue, and take in Budapest's panorama from Gellért Hill. I will help you delve into the nuances of Hungarian culture, their traditions, and way of life, sharing with you knowledge of the most authentic establishments and hidden corners where the locals spend their time. And then we will head to the small town of Szentendre.
Encounter with Enchanting Szentendre
At first sight, Szentendre may seem like the perfect setting for some medieval mysterious story: narrow cobblestone streets, ancient temples, houses, and numerous shops. The city carries traces of Serbian refugees who sought refuge here from the oppression of the Ottoman Empire. You will visit the Herend porcelain factory store, admire the exhibits at the marzipan museum and the Christmas museum, where you will find a collection of antique Christmas tree decorations from the past century. Our walk will conclude at a restaurant with national cuisine, which has been open in Szentendre for a long time and is famous for its delicious, almost home-cooked food.
