About this experience
Join us for a half-day tour to see all the top spots in Istanbul! You will visit the Hippodrome, see Hagia Sophia, Suleymaniye Mosque, Basilica Cistern, and Grand Bazaar. Plus, you'll enjoy fantastic views of the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn bay. We will tell you about the city's development, its history as the capital of great empires, and what's happening there today.
What to Expect
- Hippodrome - a place where spectacular horse races once took place. Today, it is one of the main squares of the city. You will see artifacts from different times: the Egyptian obelisk, the Serpent Column, the German Fountain, and the Column of Constantine.
- Hagia Sophia - you will admire the magnificent 15th-century mosque from the outside, which was once considered the main church of the Christian world. We will share its history and decode the architectural features.
- Topkapi Palace - the main residence of the Ottoman sultans. We will visit the first courtyard, where you will hear the story of the foundation, heyday, and fall of the Ottoman Empire.
- Basilica Cistern - we will explore the unique underground structure that provided drinking water for the residents of Constantinople for 1000 years. I will share the sad story of the Gorgon Medusa, who became a symbol of the Cistern.
- Grand Bazaar - the largest market in Istanbul. I will tell you how to bargain correctly in Turkey and why the locals are so skilled at this tricky business.
- Suleymaniye Mosque - we will visit the magnificent mosque built in honor of the Ottoman sultan Suleiman. On its territory, you will see two mausoleums: the sultan himself and his favorite wife, Hurrem.
- Egyptian Bazaar - a vibrant market with spices, herbs, and sweets, where you can buy souvenirs and enjoy tea.
