About this experience
I invite you to spend an unforgettable time on an excursion to the Principality of Andorra, where we will set off at sunrise and spend a wonderful day in the heart of the Pyrenees. You will get acquainted with the stunning mountain nature, historical landmarks, and traditions of Andorra, as well as enjoy the magnificent cuisine.
Andorra
Andorra is a dwarf state occupying just 468 km². Most of the Principality is covered by mountains, with a very mild natural climate providing good weather year-round. In winter, the temperature does not drop below -4 degrees, and in summer, it does not exceed 30 degrees. The few settlements are scattered in picturesque and fertile valleys, while mountain rivers and lakes with the purest water abound with fish. During the summer season, which lasts from May to the end of October, the ski slopes are closed and inaccessible. However, the abundant melting of snow and glaciers starting in April and ending only in July fills the lakes and mountain rivers with water to such an extent that even small streams turn into roaring rivers.
Program
- Our journey will start at 7:00, so we can make it to a magnificent breakfast in Andorra. The capital of Andorra is 220 kilometers away, which is a 2.5-3 hours drive. Yet, time will fly by imperceptibly as the road passes through ancient Catalan towns, very cozy and beautiful, and then the pre-Pyrenees begin, where beauty and mystery surround you. Along the way, I will tell you many interesting facts about these places and about Andorra itself.
- After arriving in the capital of Andorra - Andorra la Vella - and enjoying a hearty breakfast, we will head to La Massana (the second largest city), where we will be greeted by unforgettable views of the valley and a church that is over 400 years old.
- Next, we will travel through a picturesque valley with a rushing mountain river towards the famous Ordino Arcalis, along the way to which lies the renowned Sordeny Natural Park.
- In Arcalis, we will ascend to the highest peaks on a funicular, which operates only in the summer.
- We will embark on a hike (prior confirmation required) to an altitude of over 3000 meters, offering breathtaking views of Spain, France, and the Atlantic Ocean.
- If desired, we can horseback ride, fish, visit the car museum, the Caldea health complex, and much more.
- If our visit falls during the winter season, from November to April, we will undoubtedly visit numerous ski slopes equipped according to international standards and offering top-notch service. Andorra's resorts boast a very favorable price-quality ratio.
- Lunch will take place at a splendid restaurant over 300 years old, where we will be personally welcomed by the chef who once worked for King Juan Carlos of Spain and will prepare the tenderest meat grown on Andorran lands.
- After that, we will go on a shopping spree to the best shopping centers in the Principality, first acquainting ourselves with Salvador Dali's gift to Andorra's residents. Note that many goods sold in Andorra are priced up to 40% lower than in the rest of Europe. Plus, a Tax Free refund of up to 21%.
- For dinner, I will invite you to a wonderful fish restaurant by a mountain lake at an altitude of over 1500 meters. We will be offered freshly caught trout, delicate cheeses, and robust Catalan wine.
- After dinner and a day filled with events, as per your preference, we can stay in a high-mountain hotel and spend one to three days in Andorra or return to Barcelona.
