About this experience
An hour's drive from Barcelona begins the foothills of the Pyrenees. The landscapes and architecture here are not like the seaside ones. Hidden in the mountains, villages and towns attract with their measured way of life and the indelible imprint of the Middle Ages. You will visit reserved places, far from resort areas, and be transported into the past - by several centuries.
What to expect
- Besalu - a picturesque town on the Fluvia River. It seems to have not noticed the end of the Middle Ages. We will examine numerous historical monuments, paying special attention to the Romanesque bridge from the 11th century. I will tell you why the city deserves UNESCO's patronage as a world heritage site.
- Lunch at a village restaurant. A true understanding of any people's culture is incomplete without tasting their national cuisine. We will visit a typical local restaurant to better understand the lifestyle of the locals and their culinary preferences.
- El Far Sanctuary. An amazing structure built on a cliff at an altitude of 1123 m. You will be amazed by the dizzying view of the surrounding valleys and the Sau reservoir. And I will tell you many legends that have grown around this place due to its inaccessibility.
- Rupit - a fairytale town on top of a kilometer-long basalt rock and the most photographed place in Catalonia. All because of its location, unique architecture, and frozen lava in the places where cities usually have streets and sidewalks.
