You will hear interesting facts about famous landmarks, discover non-touristy and very atmospheric places, taste amazing local cuisine, and see the Catalan capital from the most beautiful angles. What to Expect
Morning Catalan Breakfast
We will meet at 9:00 to spend the whole day following the best Catalan traditions. We will start with breakfast in a very cozy place, away from tourist paths, where you will be offered eggs Benedict, French toast, and freshly brewed coffee. During the meal, I will tell you about Catalonia and the Catalans, traditions and family, about what values and goals are important to those to whom Barcelona has become native and beloved.
Walk along the promenade
After breakfast, we will take a stroll along the waterfront to soak up the atmosphere of the waking city and wash in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. You will learn how the coastline has changed and how ten Barcelona beaches, rated with the highest quality - blue flags, appeared. Then we will visit the place where the Citadel Fortress was in the 18th century, and now there is a wonderful city park. There is also a beautiful Barcelona zoo on its territory, where locals and tourists love to spend their leisure time.
Treasures of the Gothic Quarter
In the historical part of the city, you will search for ancient monsters, remnants of the Roman Empire, Royal Squares and palaces, churches and the Patron Saints of Barcelona. You will surely recognize places that you have seen in numerous movies and music videos before, touch walls that are over 2000 years old, and descend into real dungeons. Along the way, we will talk about the times of the Spanish Inquisition, I will show you the house where the Barcelona executioner lived and tell you what he sold after each execution.
Coffee Break
After immersing yourself in the rich centuries-old history of the quarter, you can rest with a cup of freshly brewed coffee in a café that is among the top 10 coffee shops in the world.
Bohemian Eixample District
Strolling along Passeig de Gracia, we will visit Casa Batllo and Casa Mila and learn about the history of these outstanding creations of Catalan architects. And then we will head to the most visited monument of Europe and the hallmark of Barcelona - the Sagrada Familia. You will hear the history and legends of this famous structure, and at the crypt of the great Antoni Gaudi, you can pay tribute to the memory of the renowned architect.
Lunch at a Fish Restaurant
Another non-touristy establishment will showcase to you all the richness and magnificence of Catalan dishes made from the freshest seafood.
Montjuic Atmosphere and Royal Residence
Having regained strength and enjoyed lunch, we will take a funicular to Mount Montjuic, where breathtaking views of Barcelona and the seaport unfold. Here you will see the Medieval fortress, learn about the history of the Civil War, the siege of Barcelona, and how the people of Barcelona fought for the region's independence for many centuries. We will stroll along the upper terrace, visit parks and relaxation areas, where the tranquility of this city is so palpable. In addition, the program includes a real royal palace, the functioning residence of the Spanish King Philip VI, where you will explore the palace ensemble and the singing fountains.
The Highlight - Tibidabo Mountain
On the mountain 564 meters above sea level stands the Temple of the Sacred Heart and the statue of Jesus Christ, as well as the oldest amusement park in Europe. From this impressive place, you will see the snow-capped peaks of Andorra and all the beauty of the Catalan capital, which will be a wonderful end to your best day in Barcelona!
