About this experience
Get ready for a packed day. We are heading to a place where masterpieces of Armenian architecture are surrounded by expressive mountain landscapes. Three monasteries - three epochs and three stories that I will immerse you in. We will take a cable car up to the Tatev monastery, visit a cave where the oldest winery in the world was found, taste wine at the factory, and also visit the beautiful monasteries of Noravank and Khor Virap.
What to expect
The road ahead is long (4 hours one way), but with beautiful landscapes outside the window and stops to stretch your legs.
Khor Virap. An hour's drive from Yerevan - and we are at the foot of Ararat, near the walls of the ancient monastery. In the morning, it is especially beautiful here, you will enjoy the views and tranquility.
Tatev. There are a few places that you must see to have an idea of Armenia. And the Tatev monastery is one of them. You will ride the longest reversible cable car in the world to reach the monastery. You will learn about how Tatev was considered one of the largest universities in the past and was the most prestigious in our region. In monasteries like Noravank, students were trained to enroll specifically in the Tatev University.
Areni 1. In this cave, the oldest winery in the world was discovered: its age is 6000 years or more! After the cave, we will visit the "Areni" winery for a wine tasting.
Noravank. This medieval monastery is picturesquely located in a gorge. You will appreciate its architecture and the rocks around it.
