What to expect
Armenian winemaking traditions and wine tasting
Two hours of picturesque road will lead you to the village of Areni. This is the best place to discover the impressive chronicles of Armenian winemaking. You will stroll through the expansive vineyard and taste 2-3 types of wine made from 'Areni', one of the oldest grape varieties in the world.
Tatev - the intersection of history, nature, and modernity
The 9th-century Tatev Monastery proudly stands on a high plateau. Optionally, you can ascend to it via the 'Wings of Tatev' - a cable car built in 2010 and listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest in the world. This breathtaking journey takes about 15 minutes and will enchant you with views of the Vorotan River gorge with dense forests. Alternatively, we can drive you up. Inside the monastery, you will learn about its history and the times when Tatev was the enlightening and spiritual center of the country.
During this part of the journey, you will also see the graceful watchtower of Arsnadzor and the Devil's Bridge, created by nature's hands.
You will also visit Shaki Waterfall, considered one of the most picturesque waterfalls in Armenia. It is associated with a legend about the beauty Shaki who jumped off a cliff, refusing to submit to conquerors. As her dress fluttered in the wind during the fall, it turned into a waterfall. The waterfall was named Shaki in her honor.
