About this experience
Armenia is ancient, diverse, and amazingly beautiful. We have combined its most interesting places in one route. You will explore the ancient Noravank Monastery, admire the Shaki Waterfall, and ride over the mountain river on the cable car. You will also visit the cave city of Old Khndzoresk, rarely reached by tourists.
What to Expect
Incredible Armenia
We will drive through the regions of Ararat, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik. The excursion program includes:
- Areni-1 Cave - we will tell you when it was discovered and what valuable artifacts of an ancient civilization were found in it.
- Noravank Monastery - an ancient monastery complex, picturesquely located against the backdrop of sheer red cliffs. You will enjoy Martian landscapes, visit the Temple of the Holy Mother of God, and see the mausoleum of the Orbelian princes.
- Shaki Waterfall - you will enjoy the fantastic local nature and hear the legend of the girl Shaki who escaped from captivity.
- 'Wings of Tatev' - the longest passenger aerial tramway of the reversible type in the world. It passes over the gorge of the turbulent Vorotan River and connects the village of Alidzor with the Tatev Monastery. Optionally, you can take a ride on it and see Armenia from a height of 300 meters.
- Tatev Monastery Complex - a historical monument of the 9th century, one of the oldest and most famous monastery complexes in Armenia, a gem of Armenian architecture.
- Swinging Suspension Bridge - 160 meters long and 1.5 meters wide. It's worth looking down - it takes your breath away from the height! We will stop halfway and enjoy the picturesque gorge.
- Old Khndzoresk Cave City - we will walk through the ancient cliff settlement where 15,000 people once lived. We will examine both natural and man-made gorges and caves.
Optionally, for an additional fee, you can extend the program to 2 days and visit the city of Jermuk. Here you will see the Jermuk Waterfall and the gallery of mineral waters. We will also visit the Hor Virap Monastery and see Zorats Karer, also known as the 'Armenian Stonehenge'.
