About this experience
I will show you that Istanbul is love! We will visit all the most popular places as seen in blogs - from Hagia Sophia to the Blue Mosque, and explore lesser-known corners of the old city. You will learn about the history of Istanbul, hear legends about outstanding residents and rulers, and see the capital through the eyes of locals.
What to Expect
Paths of Istanbul
We will explore the historical peninsula of Istanbul and discover the most important cultural monuments of the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman periods that have survived to this day.
- The heart of the capital and the symbol of the 'golden age' - Hagia Sophia, where I will tell you about the main architect of the city, Sinan, the amazing destiny of the sanctuary, and its significance to the Turks. We will admire the extraordinary mosaics, vaulted images, Slavic graffiti, and later you will have free time for a photo shoot.
- Basilica Cistern - the largest and best-preserved underground water reservoir from the Byzantine era, you will immerse yourself in a mystical atmosphere, learn how such structures functioned in Constantinople, and see the marble head of Medusa Gorgon.
- I will tell you why and how the Blue Mosque was built, another masterpiece of Islamic architecture. You will also try to guess why it has 6 minarets instead of 4.
- In Sultanahmet Square, we will talk about the Roman era. You will hear legends about the ancient Hippodrome, chariot races, and the hierarchy of groups.
