About this experience
In Rome, there are no coincidences. You will learn how, quite predictably, after a 1000-year oblivion, the Eternal City not only managed to survive but also re-emerge as the center of the world under the leadership of the great Popes of the 17th century. The history of power, the intertwining of the destinies of Popes, Napoleon, Mussolini, and the Savoy royal family - this fascinating tour will forever change and enrich your perception of Rome.
What to Expect
Viewpoint above the Spanish Steps. We will start the walk at one of the most iconic places in Rome, where we will admire a portrait of Michelangelo painted by his student.
Pincho Hill. At the best viewpoint in Rome, you will learn why and how the city emerged. You will walk through the gardens at the top of the hill - the first public park of the Italian capital. You will get acquainted with the history of the famous Borghese family, and as you reach the Gallery, you will hear echoes of its scandals and legends.
Via Veneto - one of the symbols of dolce vita, where you will see a completely different, bourgeois and respectable Rome, free from the hustle and bustle of tourists.
Piazza Barberini, adorned with the Triton Fountain. Only the palace on the street of the same name remains from the grand villa of the Barberini family, where the national gallery of ancient art is now located - one of the richest in Rome.
Street of the Four Fountains. You will admire its design and two baroque masterpieces from the geniuses of that era. This is the church of San Carlo - the last work of Borromini. And right next to it is the church of Sant'Andrea - the work of his eternal rival Bernini. By visiting the latter, you can understand the way of life of the Jesuits of the 17th century.
Quirinal Palace. You will see one of the largest European palaces, which was built for almost 200 years. From its foundation to this day, it remains the unchanged residence of the head of the state authority of Rome.
