About this experience
If you love delicious food, want to be inspired by Mediterranean cuisine, and learn about the architecture, culture, and traditions of Barcelona - then my offer is for you! I will take you to amazing places where tourists rarely go, you will try dishes with difficult-to-pronounce names and amazing flavors, as well as receive comprehensive information about the city.
It is customary that tourists who arrive in Barcelona for the first or umpteenth time rely on intuition and stick to the well-known tourist routes: Gaudi's masterpieces, beaches, Passeig de Gracia, and the endless tapas bars of the bustling La Rambla. Content with the tourist culinary conveyor belt, travelers have no idea about the treasures hidden from them in various corners of this marvelous city. It is easy to pass by these establishments, ignoring the inconspicuous signs - this is what the Catalans achieve, successfully hiding their places from savvy tourists.
Program
I invite you to spend unforgettable delicious moments in the best bars and restaurants of the city, where locals love to have their lunches and dinners.
- We will start at lunchtime when the sun is at its zenith and the body requires solid nourishment. The first stop is the old fish restaurant with the freshest sea treasures, while waiting for them (to avoid fainting from hunger), we will be offered delicious bread, Ali Oli, and wine (the restaurant is closed on Sundays). The variety of the assortment depends on how early we join the queue - table reservations are not accepted, so first come, first served. It is very interesting and amazingly tasty. The restaurant is absolutely not a touristic place, locals guard it from curious tourists, keeping it for themselves. And although there is simply no interior in it (it is a legacy of a fishing village), the dishes prepared in this restaurant will open up all the splendor of Spanish seafood for you.
- After a wonderful lunch, we will continue our walk through the Born district, where you will encounter old streets of Roman constructions, stories of events from different times, and architectural monuments.
- The labyrinths of the Gothic Quarter will guide us to the second point of the route, where you will try coffee and dessert. Like in a time machine, we will be transported many centuries back. In the walls of ancient Jewish baths is a confectionery where sweets prepared by Italian monks are served. All desserts have religious names: 'St. Teresa's yolks' (egg-sugar balls), 'The Monk's Cloak' (milk flan), 'Angel Hair' (pastries with pumpkin jam), and many others. On the underground floor hides a tiny and cozy cafe, illuminated only by candles and the burning eyes of sweet tooths.
- After such a dessert, filled with energy and long aftertaste, we will continue our tour, heading through the center (Placa de Catalunya) to an old decadent bar in a typical Parisian style - one of the most romantic places in Barcelona.
- Next, you will experience the classic of Barcelona gastronomy and a true gem of gastronomic Barcelona - an establishment that has been serving the best homemade tapas in the city for over half a century. The owner of the restaurant, Joseph Sola, inherited not only the decoration (wine barrels, an old wooden bar, kitschy details of bronze and faded photos) from an old bodega opened by his grandfather, but also unique recipes. Traditional Spanish dishes: ox tail, croquettes, fish tortilla, calamari meatballs, sole, Galician-style octopus, and sheep cheese ice cream, prepared from products bought personally by the owner at La Boqueria market - are included in the mandatory weekly program of Barcelona gourmets. Here you can often meet Catalan celebrities who consider this colorful place 'their own'.
- After that, a real Spanish siesta awaits you to rest well, after which if you still have the energy and desire for the evening, I will reserve a table for you at an amazing restaurant on Mount Tibidabo, which offers a beautiful view of the night city and the suburbs of Barcelona. Or, alternatively, a visit to a bar in one of the most fashionable hotels in Barcelona, where the most famous Barcelona dance party takes place, serving signature cocktails and offering a beautiful panorama of night Barcelona.
