About this experience
This tour is perfect for those who are planning to spend only one day in the capital of Catalonia. I will show you the most impressive places in the city.
Program
- You will see the Gothic Quarter and learn who and how founded Barcelona. You will touch with your own hands the wall built by the ancient Romans and the columns erected under the supervision of Emperor Augustus — almost two thousand years ago! You will walk on the square where the witches were burned by the servants of the Holy Inquisition. You will learn why the residents of the medieval city begged the executioner for the feet of the executed. You will count the geese in the courtyard of the Cathedral — there should be exactly as many as the girl tortured by pagans was years old (I will also tell you this story).
- You will see the houses where the townspeople have been living from the X century to our days. You will drink water from the magical fountain. You will bargain with prostitutes (if desired, of course) on the local "red light street." You will see a bar where Hemingway and Picasso, Dali and Orwell used to drink. You will touch the doors of the house where the Barcelona vampire lived, running a children's brothel. We will walk through the inner courtyard of the hospital where the dying Antoni Gaudi was brought.
- Then we will have lunch in a small but incredibly colorful tapas bar that tourists usually do not reach, and where they cook tapas "for their own." After lunch, we will enjoy the most beautiful views of the city from the viewpoint located on Montjuic hill. We will pass by the National Art Museum of Catalonia and by magical fountains to the no less beautiful square of Spain.
- Next, by metro (because this is also local color!), we will return to the city center. We will walk along the famous Passeo de Gracia past the most beautiful houses built by the best modernist architects.
- We will have coffee in a bar where Hollywood stars like to sit, and maybe we will see Woody Allen or Justin Timberlake. And then we will head to the city's main symbol, the great ongoing construction — the Sagrada Familia temple. We will look at all its facades, and I will tell you why to this day visitors inside the temple see the ghost of Antoni Gaudi.
- Then we will — again by metro — reach the Arc de Triomf, walk through Ciutadella Park, and come out in the Born district, where I will help you buy delicious souvenirs.
Next on our way — the port, the fishing district of Barceloneta, and the promenade with beaches.
