About this experience
For most people, gastronomic Georgia is associated with wine, khinkali, khachapuri, and Borjomi water, and few remember that it is also a country of tea. I will tell you how the tea industry emerged here in the 19th century, what allows tea to be grown without chemicals, and what are the peculiarities of local tea varieties. After the tasting, I will take you on a tour of the ancient Tiflis.
What to expect
Georgia - also a tea country!
The history of Georgian tea dates back over 170 years. During the walk, you will learn how the tea industry was born in our country thanks to a Chinese farmer and how it was possible to almost unchanged the technology of producing a natural product. We will talk about the special properties that make the drink not bitter and not astringent. In a cozy tea house, you will be introduced to a wide range of tea varieties.
Tea ceremony
In the format of a traditional Chinese and Japanese ceremony, you will try several different types of Georgian tea. The tasting will reveal a whole range of new flavors and aromas, and our tea master will tell you how to properly select and drink herbal tea.
Walking tour in Old Tbilisi
Then you will go on a short tour of the historical part of the city. Visit the areas of Sulfur Baths and Metekhi, see the Peace Bridge and the colorful Rezo Gabriadze Marionette Theater. I will tell you about the history of Georgia from the 7th to the 20th century in chronological order and introduce you to the brightest features of its ancient culture. For example, you will learn about the famous Georgian feast "Supra" and discover the origin of the names of authentic dishes.
🍷 In addition, we will talk about Georgian winemaking, which dates back 8000 years! At the end, as a bonus, I will invite you to a tasting of several varieties of local wine.
