Tbilisi - the City where Muse Lives
About this experience
During the stroll, we will talk about how over many centuries different peoples settled in Tbilisi, bringing their culture and religion, yet managing to preserve its uniqueness and turn the capital of Georgia into an amazing multicultural mosaic with an atmosphere that attracts many writers, artists, and directors.
What to Expect
Old streets and typical Tbilisi courtyards. You can admire paintings in the museum, decipher the symbolism of sculptures, watch outstanding films. But if you truly want to understand how an idea is born and embodied in an image - it is worth seeing with your own eyes the streets and houses that once inspired many talented individuals to create bright works of art.
Colorful quarters and religious sites. I will show you Armenian and Jewish, Azerbaijani and Greek quarters; as well as areas where Assyrian and Persian heritage is preserved. You will see Orthodox churches, a synagogue, and the only mosque in the world where Sunnis and Shiites pray together - in the Georgian capital, Christians, Jews, and Muslims coexist. This peaceful coexistence of such diverse peoples has always been one of the phenomena of Tbilisi.
Places Without Which Tbilisi Cannot Be Imagined. We will walk along Rustaveli Avenue, the ancient district of Meidan, where you will see the facades of famous sulfur baths. I won't mislead you and show you the baths where A. Dumas and A. S. Pushkin steamed, as those exact baths no longer exist. But I will definitely tell you the story of their emergence and their role in the founding of the city. We will take a ride on the cable car to the Narikala Fortress, which offers a magnificent view of the historic center and the remains of the ancient fortress wall. In addition, our program includes the Fig Gorge, the Metekhi Church, and the Metekhi Castle complex.
A Lot of Walking on Our Uneven Roads. Well, what do you expect? We have mountains... :)
