About this experience
In Georgia, you will often hear - freedom is only in the mountains! Friends, I offer you an exciting walk in the mountains, approximately an hour and a half drive from the city. There, high in the mountains, inhaling the oxygen-rich clean air and contemplating the indescribable beauty of the world from a height, we involuntarily convince ourselves of the insignificance of our petty everyday problems and bustle, feel unity with nature and the grandeur of the universe, we live, we love, we move forward, or in other words - we are free!
Program
- We depart preferably in the morning, no later than 10 - 11 a.m., to the Military-Georgian Road ("It's not a road, but poetry" - Chekhov, journey of 1888).
- On the way, we will pass by Ananuri Fortress, a monastery and the former residence of the fierce eristavs (princes) of Aragvi.
- We will explore a well-preserved complex of monuments from the early feudal era and learn the sad history of the last descendants of a noble and influential family.
- Further along the road, we reach the small village of Mleta, leave the car in the village, and start the ascent. A roughly 3-kilometer mountain trail will take us to a height of over 2250 meters above sea level, revealing fantastic mountain landscapes!
- At the summit awaits us the legendary Lomisa Monastery, a place of pilgrimage and sacrifice for many generations of highlanders.
- Being on the ridge, at the cloud level and admiring the beauties of the Aragvi and Ksani gorges, you will hear an ancient legend about the miracle of the monastery's emergence here, as Georgia is a country of legends and traditions...
- The food issue will be solved on the spot, you can eat at a roadside restaurant on the way, there is a wide selection of them, and the service is almost always excellent. We can also have a picnic in the alpine zone - also wonderful.
The tour can be supplemented or shortened - depending on your wishes, in any case, no one has ever returned unimpressed.
