About this experience
Simatai is one of the most remote and difficult-to-reach sections of the Great Wall of China, far from Beijing. This is both its challenge and its great allure! Compared to other sections, there are significantly fewer people here, but the authenticity and atmosphere are overwhelming. You will climb the wall, see watchtowers, and then visit a charming village.
What to expect
A wall without tourist gloss. Simatai is the section for those who want to immerse themselves in China's past epochs and see the Great Wall of China in all its ancient glory, unreconstructed and untouristed.
Simatai is home to 35 watchtowers, and one part of it runs along a mountain - this is also the steepest section of the wall, offering breathtaking views for kilometers around! A guide will accompany you and share essential information about the history of the Great Wall of China.
Photogenic "Chinese Venice". At the foot of the wall, we can visit a village in a southern European style: here, boats glide along the river resembling Venetian gondolas, ducks swim, weeping willows grow, neat village houses and bridges please the eye. For those interested, there are cafes and shops.
