About this experience
Visiting the Great Wall of China means touching the history not only of ancient China, but of all humanity. We will explore the famous Juyongguan section, talk about the myths, chronicles, and legends that surround the wall since its creation. And then we will visit the Lamaist temple to discuss the religious life of the Celestial Empire.
What to Expect
Great Wall of China in stories, fairy tales, and facts
For our journey, I have chosen the most interesting and strategically important section of the Great Wall of China - Juyongguan. You will walk on the stones that remember the first Chinese Emperor, admire the reflection of the wall in the water, feel the power of this place, and be amazed by its proximity to colorful landscapes. Step by step, I will tell you why and for what purpose the wall was built and immerse you in the world of folk tales: there are many legends associated with the wall, which are still read to children by their mothers before bedtime.
Understanding the basics of Buddhism at Yunhegung Temple
On the way back, you will visit one of the most impressive temples in the vicinity of Beijing - the Tibetan Yunhegung Temple. I will tell you about the history of this place, connected with the name of Emperor Kangxi, and reveal the features of China's religious life. You will learn why Buddhism is the main religion of the Celestial Empire, understand how Chinese people pray, what importance Buddha has for the people, and what the difference is between Tibetan Buddhism and traditional Buddhism. All these details together with the authentic architecture of the Lamaist Yunhegung Temple will help you to delve deeper into the local culture.

For transit travelers
Please note! If you have a layover in China of less than 24 hours + arrival and further departure from the same terminal, you will not be issued a transit visa and will not be allowed into the city (unfortunately, these are the rules at the moment). Therefore, in this situation, you will not be able to go on the tour.
