About this experience
To immerse yourself in the authentic culture of China and learn more about its ancient architecture, we will visit the most authentic section of the Great Wall - Simatai. It has preserved its original appearance better than others. After a walk on the wall, we will visit Gubei - a water town replica, where you will experience traditional Chinese houses and the layout of ancient water settlements.
What to Expect
Simatai Section
Time has spared this section from reconstruction, so the Great Wall appears in its original state. You will take a cable car up and enjoy panoramic views. You will hear stories about the construction of the wall and ancient Chinese architecture.
Gubei Water Town
The town was built as a replica of an ancient traditional water settlement. You will explore:
- High protective gates and a stone bridge over the Tanhe River
- The Republican Street, reminiscent of the famous Qianmen Street in Beijing but less crowded
- The water area that gave the town its name. You will see numerous canals, tall semicircular bridges over them, colorful houses on the water. If you wish, you can visit the cellar where Chinese vodka baijiu is made
