About this experience
Join me for a guided tour of Old Beijing! You will visit the Summer Palace of the Emperors and stroll through the ancient Shichahai district, observing the daily life of ordinary Chinese people. Explore the magnificent Temple of Heaven and uncover its symbolic significance. I will share with you the ancient local traditions and rituals.
What to Expect
Temple of Heaven. You will visit the magnificent temple complex from the 15-16th centuries, where people prayed for a bountiful harvest. I will talk about the temple construction and the importance of rituals in Confucian tradition.
Shichahai District. We will walk through one of the oldest quarters of Beijing. You will see the ancient Drum and Bell Towers, observe the traditional life of native Beijingers, and learn about 'hutongs'.
Summer Imperial Palace. Admire the palace's decoration and stroll through the beautiful garden with an artificial lake. Discover how the Summer Palace became one of the reasons for the weakening and overthrow of the Chinese monarchy.
Organizational Details
- We will use the metro or taxis to travel between distant sites. Tickets are not included in the tour price.

- Entrance tickets are paid separately: Temple of Heaven - 35 yuan, Drum and Bell Towers - 30 yuan, Summer Palace - 35 yuan.
