About this experience
The green and secluded city of Montenegro, Herceg Novi and its surroundings have long been favored by artists, writers, and simply connoisseurs of magnificent natural views. I will introduce you to the history of the city, within the boundaries of which there are several medieval fortresses, show its main architectural highlights, and help you feel the tranquility and charm of this corner of the Bay of Kotor.
What to Expect
Fascinating history of the 'young' city
Herceg Novi, by the standards of the Adriatic coast, is quite young - only 600 years old. But it has a rich history, which I will introduce you to: who founded Herceg Novi and who ruled it over the centuries; why Turkish names often come up here; what relation Admiral Sinyavin has to the city; where the old road passed, which according to legend was built by the Romans. I will talk about the formation of the first partisan squads in the Bay of Kotor, the local culture, and the glory of Herceg Novi as a city of creative people.
Beauties of the Herceg Novi Riviera
You will visit an authentic village, admire the greenery and landscapes of the Bay of Kotor from delightful viewpoints, and see the numerous medieval fortresses for which Herceg Novi is famous. Forte Mare fortress and Kanli Kula castle are two architectural landmarks that are not alike, but like the Savina Monastery, have long been the city's landmarks. You will find yourself on the central square of Herceg Novi, gaze upon the Church of Saint Archangel Michael, and learn where Josip Broz Tito's residence was located.
