The picturesque beauty of Montenegro is impossible not to admire! Skadar Lake, canyons of the Moraca and Mrtvica rivers, glacial lakes, virgin forests of Durmitor Park will be a perfect backdrop for a story about the country, its people, and customs. You will learn the main facts about Montenegro and explore its most beautiful corners.
What to Expect
From south to north: a circular journey through Montenegro
Amazing natural and man-made locations will be included in our route. We will visit all climatic zones of the country and see its diversity. You will see:
- Island-Hotel Sveti Stefan - a complex from the XV century. I will tell you about the Pashtrovichi tribe who inhabited this place in the past, and about the celebrities who visited the first closed-type hotel in the world.
- Fortress Lesendro on the shore of Skadar Lake - understand its strategic importance and learn the famous Montenegrin proverb. After that, we will enjoy the panorama of the largest lake on the Balkan Peninsula and discuss what cryptodepression is.
- Canyons of the Moraca, Mrtvica, and Tara rivers. You will learn about the geology of these places and the construction of the railway in the mountain ranges. We will have a stunning view of coniferous forests that are over 400 years old.
- Djurdjevich Bridge, located at a height of 175 meters. I will explain who and when built this structure and why the Montenegrins themselves destroyed it.
- Durmitor National Park - an untouched natural corner. Here you will walk around the glacial Black Lake and get acquainted with the flora and fauna of the country.
Montenegrin Traditions and Customs
The nature outside the window, changing landscapes and cities will be the best background for a story about the features of local culture. We will talk about Christmas and the Feast of Slava. I will help you understand how Montenegrins live and why a patriarchal way of life reigns here. You will learn about the tradition of the "virgins" and other customs significant to Montenegrins.
