About this experience
You will visit the most beautiful place on the Montenegrin coast - the Boka-Kotor Bay, where you will see ancient cities and a man-made island on a reef. The walk will immerse you in the royal era, the Turkish heritage of Montenegro, and the atmospheric past of the country. Natural beauties, the architecture of the Old Towns of Kotor and Perast will merge into an incredible picture that you will not soon forget.
What to expect
Ancient city history
In the city of Kotor, you will encounter the legacy of Venetian culture - temples, palaces, and fortress walls. By examining the architectural details of old buildings, you will feel the atmosphere of that time, see the city from a height, and learn its history: it has endured enemy raids and epidemics many times. And in Perast - an important political center of the past, where European and Ottoman cultures merged - you will see the highest bell tower on the shores of the Adriatic Sea and numerous mansions of the nobility.
Cultural heritage of Montenegro
You will see roads deep into the continent, laid by the Romans. In the Savina Monastery, you will see the relics of the Queen of Serbia and local saints, the miraculous icon of the Savina Mother of God, and even find a Russian book. And the Spianola Fortress, founded by the Spaniards and completed by the Turks, you will explore inside out, getting acquainted with its history.
Beauties on the water
You will visit the Island of Our Lady, where you will see its main attractions. This entirely man-made island grew on a reef, and in its church, many valuable items brought by sailors from all over the world as gifts are kept - for example, a painting embroidered with the hair of one of the sailors' wives. And the island of St. George, currently closed to visitors, you will see from a distance.
Medieval and modern life
On our way, we will also encounter Herceg Novi, full of colors, greenery, and stone stairs. You will see the Kanli Kula Fortress, built by the Turks, the clock tower, and the city churches. And then take a walk along the promenade. You will cross by ferry to the other shore of the Verige Strait, where we will see the views of the Kotor Bay and the architecture of the surrounding coasts.
