What to expect
Archaeological journey into Antiquity
In the museum, there are 13 exhibition halls and 15,000 exhibits, most of which were found during excavations of the mysterious ancient city of Perge, located 15 km from Antalya, founded by the seer Calchas after the Trojan War. During the excursion, you will hear the most famous and unknown stories of Ancient Greece and Rome, see white marble statues of gods and Roman emperors, as well as a collection of sarcophagi belonging to the wealthy of that era.
The abduction of the century or the search for a sacred relic
In the museum quest, you will take on the role of detectives who will have to thwart the plans of the criminal organization 'Relic Hunters' and prevent the priceless artifact from being stolen from the Antalya Museum. By the way, the sacred relic is as real as it gets! A thousand years ago, the Crusaders and other lucky gentlemen hunted for it. Clues hidden in works of art and decor will help you find this artifact among thousands of exhibits.
A thousand and one fact from the ancient world
- what Neanderthals ate, how the ancients buried the dead in funeral pithoi, and what attribute the Mother Goddess was worshipped with
- why the Greeks diluted their wine, why getting drunk was a mortal sin for them, and why cabbage was considered the best delicacy at symposiums
- why Roman senators, welcoming each new emperor, wished him 'to be happier than Augustus and better than Trajan,' who among the emperors was the first to wear a beard, and which ruler killed his own brother, then deified him
- how an unfortunate turtle suffered because of Hermes, why the goddess of nightmares Hecate had three heads, and why sacrificing to her only had to be done at the crossroads of three roads
- why a certain Aurelia Demetra ordered to portray herself 'lying' on the lid of a sarcophagus together with her husband, whose head was replaced with a piece of unprocessed stone
- how they hunted for the sacred relic, fragments of which are kept in the museum
You will discover these and many other plots of Antiquity on a grand journey through the archaeological museum.
