About this experience
The royal complex of Prague Castle and the adjacent historic district of Hradčany is one of the oldest, most picturesque, and interesting places in Prague. You will walk through fairytale streets, visit the famous St. Vitus Cathedral and Strahov Monastery, see the Schwarzenberg Palace, and enjoy breathtaking views of the city.
What to Expect
Colorful Hradčany
You will visit Hradčany, a once tiny town of two streets and one square. Today, it is an important historical district of Prague, beautifully located on a hill. You will discover where a real mummy and a crucifix of a bearded woman, the patron saint of unhappy women, were kept. On the hidden street Nový Svět, away from mass tourism, you will learn about the consequences of an unequal marriage and the connection of the scientist Johannes Kepler to Prague. In the territory of the Strahov Monastery, you will uncover the secrets of the local monks and a medieval beer recipe.
Prague Castle: Princes, Kings, Presidents
Prague Castle is the former residence of the country's rulers and the largest castle complex in the world. There are numerous interesting buildings within its premises! Inside the magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral, I will talk about the Czech Cain and reveal where the ancient coronation regalia are kept. Near the Schwarzenberg Palace, I will share the poignant story of a sculpture and explain why a hundred years ago young girls were honored with the title of an old maid. You will also learn about the fairytale Golden Lane: its miniature houses and famous residents.
