What to Expect
Secrets of Strahov Monastery
You will get acquainted with the history and architecture of the ancient Strahov Monastery: walk through its courtyard, examine the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the library, and the chapel of Saint Roch, and if desired, visit the famous brewery. You will also climb to one of the best viewing platforms in Prague and learn what valuable relic was stolen from the monastery and what it is proud of today.
History and Legends of Loreta Square
On Loreta Square, you will uncover the mystique of the Chernin Palace and learn how the holy hut of the Virgin Mary ended up in Prague's Loreta, why a poor girl grew a beard overnight, and what the 'Prague sunshine' is. In addition, I will show you the magnificent palaces surrounding the main Citizens' Square: Martinitz, Schwarzenberg, Toskansky, and the Archbishop's Palace. As well as the monument to the country's first president, the Monastery of Barefoot Carmelites, and Matthias Gate.
Prague Castle
You will visit three inner courtyards of the royal residence and view St. Vitus Cathedral - the main Catholic church in the country. I will tell you why in the 15th century kings left Prague Castle and what is kept 'behind seven locks'. I will also show you its main attractions: Old and New Royal Palaces, Schwarzenberg Palace, Lobkowicz Palace, and St. George's Basilica.
